Privacy policy
Abakira Quantity Breaks shows quantity-break offers on a merchant’s product pages and applies the matching discount at checkout.
What we access, and why
- Products — to let the merchant choose which products an offer applies to. We never modify the catalogue.
- Discounts — to create and manage the automatic discount that backs each offer.
- Themes — read-only, to check whether the widget is actually installed on the product page.
- Orders — to know when one of our offers was actually applied. This is the only way to tell the merchant what their offers earned: a Shopify discount function cannot report back to us.
What we store
We store the shop owner contact email supplied by Shopify and the language of the merchant’s Shopify admin. We use them for essential service communication and to serve the app in the appropriate language. The contact email is not a marketing opt-in; we do not send marketing messages without separate, explicit consent.
For each order, we keep only the identifier of the offer that applied, the discount amount and the order total. We do not store buyer names, emails, phone numbers, addresses, payment details or cart contents.
The storefront widget records that it was seen and that a tier was clicked. These events carry no buyer identifier of any kind.
Who else sees this data
We use Vercel to run the app, Neon to store it, and Tawk.to for the support chat inside the merchant admin. The support chat is loaded only in the Shopify admin, never on a storefront: it never runs on your product pages and your buyers never encounter it. Tawk.to sees only what a merchant chooses to write to us.
What we never do
- We do not sell or share merchant or buyer data.
- We do not use buyer data for advertising or profiling.
- We do not track buyers across stores.
How long we keep it
Keeping data longer than we need it is a risk, not an asset. So:
- Widget events (seen, tier clicked) are deleted after 60 days. They only serve the last 30 days of the funnel.
- Offer and order events — the ones that tell a merchant what their offers earned — are deleted after 400 days, so a merchant can compare one season to the same season a year earlier.
- Everything is deleted when the shop is redacted (see below).
How it is protected
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS everywhere, including between the app and its database) and at rest by our database provider. Access is limited to what is needed to run the app.
Deletion
When a merchant uninstalls the app, their offers stop applying immediately. We immediately clear the merchant contact email and admin language. Shopify then sends us a shop redaction request 48 hours later, and we delete every remaining record we hold for that shop. Merchants can also ask us to delete their data at any time.
Our agreement with merchants
We act as a data processor on behalf of the merchant, who remains the controller of their store’s data. Installing the app means accepting this policy, and it is the data protection agreement between us: we process only the data listed above, only for the purposes listed above, only for as long as stated above, and we never use it for our own ends. If we ever need to process anything else, this page changes first, in the same commit as the code.
